What is functional medicine?
Functional medicine is a patient-centered approach to healthcare that emphasizes addressing the root causes of illness rather than just treating symptoms.
This approach promotes overall wellness by looking at how all systems of the body are affecting one another.
We ask the questions: Why are you ill? What caused it? How do we prevent this from happening again?
We combine conventional medicine, functional lab testing, lifestyle modifications, nutritional interventions, and other therapies to create personalized treatment plans that aim to support the body’s natural healing process.
By focusing on prevention and proactive healthcare, functional medicine encourages patients to take control of their health and achieve long-term wellness.

Chances are you’re experiencing the side effects of navigating a world that prioritizes the hustle over well-being — chronic fatigue, hormone imbalance, thyroid or adrenal dysregulation, digestion problems, acne, anxiety — the list goes on.
We’re living in a culture that often neglects self-care in favor of achievements, accomplishments, and determining our self-worth on how much we got done that day. There is a constant pressure to keep up with this fast-paced environment. We are expected to do more, make more, learn more, be more. Now don’t get me wrong, I am all for self-improvement, pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone to grow, working hard, and taking steps to genuinely better yourself; however, we often push ourselves far past our thresholds.
When we push ourselves past these thresholds, it's common to end up feeling like your body is working against you.
We may feel like we’re doing everything right and yet it’s not enough, but it’s important to recognize that our bodies are doing their best with the resources and information they have available to them (especially in the face of modern life's demands and societal expectations).
Unfortunately, we are forced to create trade-offs that are making us sick. Increased stress levels, lack of sleep, poor eating habits, limited time for self-care, lack of connection with others — all of these factors directly contribute to various physical and mental health issues, including burnout, anxiety, depression, and even chronic diseases.
Stress is a normal part of life — we need it to get through our day, to work, and to keep us safe. The problem is that the amount of stress we consistently experience on a daily basis has been significantly amplified, and this prolonged state of stress has a tendency to affect women’s bodies more acutely.
Here’s the Catch-22
When we actually try to be “healthy”, we are overloaded with so much conflicting information that we often are left more confused than when we started.
It’s no wonder we feel like our bodies are fighting against us — we’ve never been taught how they work in the first place.
It is time for a paradigm shift, where you and your body are taking center stage.
