Symptoms: a patient comes in with weight gain, acid reflux, and bloating
Root-causes: through analysis of laboratory markers and functional lab testing such as a food sensitivity test and GI-MAP, it is discovered the patient has sensitivities to many food groups and an imbalance in the gut microbiome
Lifestyle: once the root causes are identified, the patient and provider are able to investigate which lifestyle and nutritional factors have enabled the gut imbalance and food sensitivities to develop, such as anti-acid medications, poor eating hygiene, poor sleep, and chronic stress
Root-causes of the root-causes: after speaking with the patient more, the provider identifies that chronic stress is the limiting factor in the patient’s path to wellness, and together they identify underlying limiting beliefs about healing, difficulties in relationships, and nervous system dysregulation
Changing how the patient approaches nutrition and implementing lifestyle changes are absolutely necessary to give the body the environment it needs to heal itself, however; when used in combination with addressing underlying limiting beliefs and dysregulation, the patient sets themselves up for long-term success.
